INSIDE COMEDY
March 17, 2014  | By David Bianculli  | 1 comment

Showtime, 11:00 p.m. ET

Usually, David Steinberg interviews two different comedy stars in his excellent half-hour TV talk show. Tonight, he interviews three – but that’s because one focus this week is a comedy duo. Keegan-Michael Key and Jordan Peele, better known as Comedy Central’s Key & Peele, are two of Steinberg’s guests. The third? Veteran TV producer Garry Marshall, the guy behind TV’s Happy Days, Laverne & Shirley, Mork and Mindy, and so much more. When Marshall would show up on TV press tours to discuss his shows, he was funnier than anyone who starred in them – Robin Williams included. Garry Marshall can tell a story – and tonight, he’ll tell several. Key and Peele, meanwhile, will represent the younger set, and a perspective far afield from Marshall’s white-bread Happy Days approach.

Always loved Garry Marshall as Stan, Murphy Brown's demanding boss.
