A BOY AND HIS DOG

This 1975 movie is noteworthy for several things. Long before Mad Max, it presented a dystopian post-apocalyptic view of the future. Long before Miami Vice, it has Don Johnson in a starring role, as a resourceful loner whose secret weapon is his traveling companion, a brilliant canine with mental telepathy. But my favorite aspect of this film is that it’s based on a story by Harlan Ellison, a visionary writer who’s smarter than any telepathic canine.
