48 HOURS: THE WHOLE GRITTY CITY
February 15, 2014  | By David Bianculli  | 1 comment

CBS, 9:00 p.m. ET

Wynton Marsalis presents this two-hour 48 Hours special, which looks at how youth marching bands in New Orleans, competing for spots in Mardi Gras, provide young people, post-Katrina, with a rare dose of hope. To hear and read my full review, see NPR’s Fresh Air with Terry Gross website.

This right here is why I have come to absolutely depend on you, David Bianculli. I would have completely missed this little gem if it weren't for this site and for your segment on Fresh Air. There is so much in the mess of all these TV channels that I would so easily overlook if it weren't for this site. I can't even remember the last time I watched 48 Hours, not to mention network TV of any kind on a Saturday night, but this was so worth skipping some speed skating for! Again, thank you.

Thank you, Mara. The best that TVWW can do is share what we think is great... and find out that readers enjoyed. –TVWW
