Another New Program Provider Joins the TV Game: This Time It's PlayStation
March 10, 2015  | By David Bianculli  | 1 comment

A generation or two ago, it was superstation TBS, then premium cable providers HBO, bending the rules about what and how viewers could watch TV. These days, in a rather rapid revolution, it’s been Netflix and Hulu and Amazon and so on – and today (Tuesday, Mar. 10), another streaming video player joins the fray. It’s PlayStation, which launches its first original dramatic series: a live-action version of the comic book series Powers, featuring at least two very good actors and recognizable names: Eddie Izzard and Michelle Forbes. To get access to most of season one, you need to join the PlayStation fold, but for now, Episode 1 is being offered for free via YouTube. So you can watch the entire hour, and decide for yourself whether Powers is a tantalizing successor to such superpower TV series as Heroes.David Bianculli
