And the Award Goes to James Corden
June 12, 2016  | By David Bianculli  | 1 comment

Sunday's 70th Annual Tony Awards telecast was one of the best, with virtually every segment, from start to finish, scoring heavily. And that started with the start. First-time Tony host James Corden, after a solemn prologue noting the mass shooting in Orlando, found himself the subject of a Hamilton parody then launched into an opening number that burned through enough Broadway shows per minute to break the sound barrier. And for the Tonys this year, that was just the beginning. -- David Bianculli
