BIANCULLI’S BEST BETS

Various Networks, Check local listings

Another day loaded with games, available on CBS and the Turner network of cable and satellite outlets. The first game televised is on CBS at 12:15 p.m. ET, when Duke (ranked No. 2 in the Midwest) faces Albany (No. 15). In prime time, CBS’s games include Ohio State (No. 2 in the West) vs. Iona (No. 15) at 7:15 p.m. ET, and Notre Dame (No. 7 in the West) vs. Iowa State (No. 10) at 9:45 p.m. For other games, check out today’s lineups on TNT, TBS and TruTv.

Showtime, 8:00 p.m. ET

What Steven Spielberg lost in converting this stage play to this 2011 movie was its overt symbolism, and the beauty of the onstage “puppet” that symbolized the titular animal. What he gained, though, was a majestic creature with spirit to spare, and a brilliantly photographed film about a horse and his trainer, and their separate grim journeys through World War I. Jeremy Irvine stars as the trainer – but watch for Peter Mullan as Ted Narracott, who figures prominently in War Horse. He also figures prominently in Top of the Lake, the current Sundance Channel miniseries, playing gruff old Matt Mitcham.

TCM, 8:00 p.m. ET

When is a Fellini movie not a Fellini movie (not completely, anyway)? When it’s this 1948 Italian film, because it’s directed by Roberto Rossellini, who also wrote the screenplay. But others who contributed to the story include both Federico Fellini and Jean Cocteau, and Fellini himself, in this rarely televised movie, has an onstage role as well, as the Tramp. Anna Magnani (pictured) stars.

NBC, 10:00 p.m. ET

Tonight’s edition features a report by Ted Koppel, who usually reports on international issues. Tonight, though, he focuses on the United States, and this country’s sometimes shocking treatment of juvenile prisoners, whom Koppel finds stuck away in adult prisons, sometimes put in solitary confinement for their own protection.

HBO, 10:00 p.m. ET

Among tonight’s scheduled guests: Former New Jersey Governor Jim McGreevey and veteran music executive Clive Davis.

Manusia sampah sejati, memangsa orang-orang tak berdosa hanya untuk mengisi kantong mereka yang serakah. Sungguh memalukan.
