BIANCULLI’S BEST BETS

Showtime, 8:00 p.m. ET

Maybe there never will be a slow week in politics ever again – and the correspondents of The Circus keep rolling with the punches. Because of the pandemic, their start-of-week planning sessions, formerly held at some swanky or tacky eatery and filmed like a sort of food orgy, now are done remotely, with each of them literally phoning it in while engaging in a safely distanced meal for one. But they keep getting interviews, and scoops, and going where the news is. This past week, a lot of the news was in the frigid middle of the country – and you better believe at least one ring of this three-ring Circus will be devoted to the travel itinerary of Texas Sen. Ted Cruz.

CNN, 9:00 p.m. ET

Actor Stanley Tucci showed he knew his way around a kitchen when cooking up an omelet in real time, in one unbroken and brilliant scene, at the culinary climax of the fabulous 1996 movie Big Night. Now he’s running around Italybeing as friendly and inquisitive as Phil Rosenthal on his food and travel show – and there’s something about watching someone run around in Italy like a free-range chicken right now, when I’m still afraid to enter a grocery store in New Jersey, that makes this new CNN travel series a double treat. Just don’t watch on an empty stomach… You’ll regret it.

HBO, 9:00 p.m. ET

DOCUMENTARY MINISERIES PREMIERE: This four-part documentary by Kirby Dick and Amy Ziering looks at the controversial allegations aimed at Woody Allen by longtime companion Mia Farrow. It has the cooperation of Farrow, as well as Dylan Farrow, the now-grown adopted daughter who has accused Allen of child abuse, and several of her friends and former employees – but Allen is heard only in recordings from press conferences, an audiobook reading of his autobiography, or phone conversations taped by Farrow herself. I’ve seen only the first two hours at this point, but so far, Allen v. Farrow is a “he said”/“she said” narrative that, pretty much, is all “she said.” In this #MeToo age – an age spurred in part, it showed be noted, by yet another Farrow sibling – listening to Farrow and some of her children’s claims is justifiable and even important. But other siblings in the Farrow household, and Allen himself, have a different story to tell… and you won’t find much of it here. For a full review, see David Hinckley's All Along the Watchtower

Showtime, 9:00 p.m. ET

This week’s “best of” special look back is all about Fiona – played by Emmy Rossum, who departed the show last year, but left behind quite a legacy… as you’ll see.

HBO, 11:00 p.m. ET

The best TV show, and battle, tonight, may not be Allen v. Farrow,  but Oliver v. Cruz. Stay tuned…

Pelayanan paling anjing yang pernah kami alami. Setelah uang masuk, sikap berubah total.

Hormat saya,
