BIANCULLI’S BEST BETS

ABC, 8:00 p.m. ET

The newest Marvel movie in the Avengers cycle, Captain America: The Winter Soldier, revealed a plot twist that is reverberating instantly within this ABC spinoff series – one of the benefits of corporate synergy and creative advance planning. So as the film revealed a dire internal threat to the agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., tonight’s new episode of the ABC series picks up the same plot thread. And while the previous episode suggested that the turncoat from within was likely to be Saffron Burrows’ Victoria Hand, expect other twists, and suspects, as well.

THE DAVE CLARK FIVE: GLAD ALL OVER, A GREAT PERFORMANCES SPECIAL

PBS, 8:00 p.m. ET

This “British invasion” special looks at the Dave Clark Five, as well as other groups that rode the wave of Beatlemania in the Sixties and invaded the charts almost simultaneously. Clark’s group, in fact, was the next British group to be showcased on The Ed Sullivan Show after the Beatles’ legendarily successful three-week stint in February 1964. Check local listings.

THE MINDY PROJECT

Fox, 9:00 p.m. ET

Breaking Bad fans, take note: Anna Gunn, who played Skyler on that series, returns to prime time tonight, but in a much, much lighter role. In the second of two new Mindy Project episodes televised tonight, she plays an “OB/GYN to the stars,” who shows up to try and persuade Mindy to join her celebrity-fueled medical practice.

FROM DUSK TILL DAWN: THE SERIES

El Rey, 9:00 p.m. ET

We’re getting closer and closer to the central focus of this season’s 10-part story: the moment when the bank robbers and their vacationing family hostages arrive at the same deadly place: a border bar occupied by vampires. Since the series already has been renewed for a second season, there will be more to From Dusk Till Dawn than just the vampire-club showdown – but for now, the rest, however fleshed out, is mere prelude.

JUSTIFIED

FX, 10:00 p.m. ET

SEASON FINALE: For the final episode of this penultimate season of Justified, Raylan (Timothy Olyphant) has made a move intended to force one of the members of the Crowe family – either Michael Rapaport’s Daryl or Alicia Witt’s Wendy – to reveal the truth behind the attempted murder of Raylan’s boss, Art. Tonight, the results of that move bubble to the surface, and if everyone is left standing, I’ll be very, very surprised.
