THE MAKING OF PETER PAN LIVE!

NBC, 8:00 p.m. ET

Allison Williams as Peter Pan, and Christopher Walken as Captain Hook, are shown going through their rehearsal paces in this follow-up to last year’s The Sound of Music Live! NBC blockbuster. Maybe, though, you’ll want to keep the little ones away from this behind-the-scenes special. If they explain the kids’ flying as being attributable to wires, and not pixie dust, then I don’t want to know. And neither will they.

 
  
 
 
PLANES, TRAINS AND AUTOMOBILES

CW, 8:00 p.m. ET

This time of year, this is exactly the kind of TV offering viewers are likely to gobble up. It’s a 1987 comedy about all sorts of mishaps during a trip trying to get home in time for Thanksgiving – and serves up plenty of laughs, courtesy of stars Steve Martin and John Candy.

 
  
 
 
GONE WITH THE WIND

AMC, 8:00 p.m. ET

At one point in the mid-Seventies, NBC presented 1939’s Gone with the Wind as a two-night movie special, and set ratings records for a while. Now this epic Civil War drama just slides onto cable, relatively unheralded – but it’s always worth watching. Though, on AMC, you have to fight your way through an awful lot of commercial interruptions.

 
  
 
 
SATURDAY NIGHT LIVE THANKSGIVING

NBC, 9:00 p.m. ET

Paul Simon dressed in a turkey suit? It’s such a funny image, I remember it from 1976, when Simon poked fun at his own reputation as, quoting Simon himself, “Mr. Alienation.” But you don’t have to have that long a TV memory, because NBC just repeated that episode of SNL as a special vintage prime-time presentation last Saturday. But tonight, it’s only one element in a Thanksgiving-themed SNL special.

Destination America, 10:00 p.m. ET
