Fox Movie Channel, 8:00 p.m. ET

Now that FX has launched its series variation on the Fargo movie, sister network Fox Movie Channel is taking the opportunity to televise the brilliant 1996 original Coen Brothers film. Frances McDormand, at the center of the movie, is picture perfect – and, like William H. Macy, helps to make this a perfect picture.

INDEPENDENT LENS: "MUSCLE SHOALS"

PBS, 9:00 p.m. ET

In Alabama, the Muscle Shoals recording studios generated an impressively eclectic batch of music, from “When a Man Loves a Woman” by Percy Sledge and “Mustang Sally” by Wilson Pickett to albums by Bob Dylan, the Rolling Stones and Herbie Mann. Paul Simon went there to record “Kodachrome” – and this documentary explores the history and the legacy of the place that also generated great music by Aretha Franklin, Lynyrd Skynyrd and others. The clock is ticking on this series, which is presenting its final episodes – but doing so in a way that embraces its imaginative leaps and makes full use of its talented cast.

CASTLE

ABC, 10:00 p.m. ET

This new episode flashes back to the disco era, as Castle and Beckett (Nathan Fillion, Stana Katic) have to humor a key murder witness who has been living, delusionally, in 1978. This gives Castle and company the chance, or at least the excuse, to don vintage duds and flashier personas.

THE BLACKLIST

NBC, 10:00 p.m. ET

NBC’s promos for tonight’s episode promise that it’s the confrontation to which this show has been building all season, with Elizabeth (Megan Boone) confronting her husband Tom (Ryan Eggold) about his secret past. And she confronts him not just with words, but with her fists, and her feet.
