Way, way back in 1977, NBC took the three Godfather films and re-stitched them in chronological order, so the young Vito Corleone, played by Robert de Niro, eventually “matured” into the mob don played by Marlon Brando. It was called The Godfather Saga then, and was presented as a major miniseries “revamp” of the classic movies. Earlier this year, more footage was added and re-edited, the whole thing was remastered, and here it is: Starting at 5 p.m., a full-length “in sequence” Godfather Epic that will keep going well past midnight.
