The “new” mutants in this collection of fugitives and refugees are still learning about, and training to use, their powers. The “veteran” mutants, meanwhile, are scrambling to protect the newbies, to rescue fellow mutants that have been captured already, and to prepare for the war that the X-Men have warned them is coming. And also in hiding, with their newly “outed” powerfully gifted teens, are two “normal” parents. Although, as The Gifted demonstrates every week as one of its overall themes, “normal” is an extremely relative term.
