BIANCULLI’S BEST BETS

Netflix, 3:00 a.m. ET

SERIES PREMIERE: Netflix unveils Season 1 of Marvel’s Daredevil in its entirety today, starring Charlie Cox as the superhero with a difference. The difference is, he has no superpowers – and, in fact, is legally handicapped, because he’s blind. But he’s also, thanks to radiation from the accident that blinded him as a boy, unusually attuned with his remaining senses, which allows him to navigate through his world, and the world of crime he seeks to oppose, with jaw-dropping ease. This is the first of five Marvel Comics Netflix presentations planned by this collaboration of media titans – and it starts well, with a smart tone, some impressive fight sequences, and, in Cox, a charismatic leading man.  Co-stars include Deborah Ann Woll, last seen as the red-haired young vampire on True Blood.

ESPN, 3:00 p.m. ET

Jordan Spieth burst out of the gate yesterday, registering nine birdies and only one bogey to finish the first round of this year’s Masters at a very impressive 8 under par, earning the 21-year-old the early lead with a first-day 64. The last person to collect nine birdies in one Masters round at Augusta? Tiger Woods, four years ago. Yesterday, however, the closely scrutinized Woods shot a 1 over par first-round 73, tying him for 41st place. So today, Spieth is playing to maintain his lead, while Woods is playing to make the cut for the weekend.

CBS, 9:00 p.m. ET

I’m not really recommending this show. I’m just pointing out that tonight’s plot involves a murder at a convention of Elvis impersonators. (Or, since there are more than one, would the correct plural be Elvii?) And the thought of that reminds me of one of my favorite episodes of Dabney Coleman’s old Buffalo Bill series, when his TV station was overrun by frantic Jerry Lewis imitators. (One of them being a pre-stardom Jim Carrey.) But I digress. So what Elvis song best suits a murder investigation of Elvis impersonators? “Suspicious Minds,” perhaps? The real Elvis, pictured, left the building long, long ago...

Syfy, 9:00 p.m. ET

SEASON FINALE: After tonight, there will only be 11 monkeys left. Just kidding. That’s not the plot of this show – but the plot, by now, is so convoluted and complicated, time-wise, that it might as well be.

HBO, 10:00 p.m. ET

Good lineup: Tonight’s guests include Massachusetts Sen. Elizabeth Warren, journalist Fareed Zakaria, and humorist Dave Barry.
