Closing In On Smothers Book, Opening Up On Twitter
Wish me luck. This is supposed to be, and had better be, an amazingly productive weekend as I close in on the final chapters of my Smothers Brothers book. I'll still be providing BIANCULLI'S BEST BETS, so keep checking in.
Meanwhile, let me officially invite you to come follow me on Twitter, if you know how to get there and are so inclined. I'm now there under TVWORTHWATCHING -- and promise not to pester you with boring details of my so-called life.
I have no life. Just an overdue book -- and not the library kind.

Twitter? Aieee! You are lost to us! LOL! Facebook I can handle, but Twitter? Well, it's not for everybody.
Best of luck getting that book done!
(Funny -- I haven't done Facebook, for the same "Aieee" reaction. Even funnier: Your subtle LOL joke. Made me, well, laugh out loud.
But Twitter, I thought, I could use to say something new, and fast, about each day's very best television offering.
I know, it's not what I had for breakfast, but it could be fun, and a fast reminder of something to watch or record. And I think I've come up with a name for it: Today's TV Tweets.... because I love puns.
Oh, and in case you're wondering, you heard it here first: Poppy-seed bagel. Light cream cheese. Onions, capers, smoked salmon, coffee with lowfat milk. Stop the presses... -- David B.)
Glad you highlighted "O' Brother Where Art Thou" as it is one of those rare movies where you can drop in at any point and stay hooked to it.
I believe a lot of this has to do with the performance of Tim Blake Nelson as "Delmar", a character that compels you to listen to every syllable he mutters akin to the great Barry Fitzgerald's "Michaleen Oge Flynn" in "The Quiet Man".
My favorite line? Delmar to John Turturro's "Pete" in the theater in what was hardly a 'stage whisper'......
"...we thought you wuz a tao-oad.....".
Great movie...looking forward to the SB book, good luck this weekend, you can do it.....

(Thanks -- and I love that movie theater scene, too -- and love watching Nelson singing "In the Jailhouse Now" in the finale. Thanks for the good luck. I'm heading to the book RIGHT NOW. -- David B.)
You are soooooooo messing with my Friday nights now that you are mentioning Bill Moyers as must watch TV.... I was thinking I'd skip a Friday or two so that I could go to my friend's "front porch Friday" but ever since that thought slipped into my head, you've mentioned Bill Moyers here! So I will not skip him! Oh if only PBS would repeat him throughout the week somewhere...or maybe I should get a TIVO?
Good luck with the book and tweeting! I don't tweet, but breakfast did sound wonderful! ;-)
(Thanks for the good wishes. And breakfast is one of the three meals I prepare very well, to get myself through book hell. After book, next up: diet and exercise! -- David B.)
Good to see you on Twitter. I have started following you. I noticed you are only following your daughter. If you like puns you should really follow NYT columnist David Pogue @Pogue as he usually retweets the best he sees. I am prejudiced because he retweeted my pun:
TONIGHT'S MEDITATION (via @supertweeting): Those who forget the post are condemned to retweet it. (Oh, that's a great one. But geez -- if anyone on Twitter can find out who anyone else is following, isn't that potentially creepy? For the record, and here's another pun, I tweeted my daughter again today, and called her my tweetheart. Not bad, huh? -- David B.)
Good Luck! :o) (Thanks -- good day so far. - David B.)
Hi David:
don't know anything about twitter? In fact, I bought a sony walkman cd player at a garage sale for 50 cents and when I walked into the door and my kids saw it, you would have thought I'd carried in a skunk carcass.
Anyway, quick question. On 'Deal or no Deal,' does the banker know which case holds what dollars?
Thanks,
Bart
(Dear Bart -- Hi! [Bart is my cousin, so he's allowed to titter at my Twitter.] No, the banker is unaware of the suitcase contents. he just has a computerized formula, and adheres to that, give or take the special bribes dangled in front of certain contestants. Like, you know, vintage Sony Walkman sets. -- David B.)
