Spring Break for My Students, Smothers Marathon for Me

My students at Rowan University are taking off for spring break this week -- and I'm using the time, I hope, to nail down the final chapters of my Smothers Brothers book.
I'll keep providing BEST BETS every day, so keep coming back. But as for BIANCULLI'S BLOG, for the next few days, give me a break. Literally. Please. My book editor has been patience personified, but that won't last forever.
Meanwhile, for the record: I loved Jon Stewart's evisceration of Jim Cramer, and the way ER handled the secret return of George Clooney, and the way Battlestar Galactica is winding up. But enough of this. Back to the brothers...

Enjoy spring break, albeit a working one for you.
As a fan of ER from it's inception, I must say that last Thursday's episode was one of the finest I've seen in the run of this series. It puts upstart GREYS ANATOMY to shame as the way to provide a classy, well done, well acted hospital drama.
While watching Thursday night I wondered aloud where one might find such a wide and respected collection of acting talent in one show, on one episode. George Clooney, Ernest Borgnine (a real thrill by the way), Susan Sarandon, Julianna Margulies, Noah Wyle, John Stamos, Eric LaSalle, Sheesh, did I leave anyone out? And of course, the rest of the brilliant cast of this fine show. For NBC to replace such 10 PM power house shows with Leno Ad Nauseum is a shame. ER will be missed. (Great points! And yes, that's the real shame about Leno at 10. -- David B.)
