Iowa Caucus

IOWA CAUCUS COVERAGE

C-SPAN, C-SPAN2, 7 & 8 p.m. ET

There are plenty of places to get news of today's Iowa Caucus results, including America Votes 2008 on CNN (beginning at 4 p.m. ET), You Decide 2008 on Fox News (at 9 p.m. ET), Iowa Caucus Coverage on MSNBC (at 7 p.m. ET), and broadcast network newscasts and newsbreaks. The purest coverage, though, arrives courtesy of the C-SPAN networks. An overview hour is presented at 7 p.m. ET, followed at 8 p.m. ET by live coverage of an actual Iowa caucus - the Democrats on C-SPAN, the Republicans on C-SPAN2.

Reese Witherspoon

ELECTION

The Movie Channel, 8 p.m. ET

And since tonight's Iowa caucus is the first official bellwether of the 2008 presidential election campaign, it's perfect timing for The Movie Channel to present this 1999 comedy film. Election stars Reese Witherspoon as a scheming high-school student running for class president - and Matthew Broderick as the teacher trying to ruin her nefarious plans.

Dr. Zhivago

DR. ZHIVAGO

TCM, 8 p.m. ET

This 1965 epic romantic film has been restored, making the snow even whiter and the furs even furrier. Omar Sharif stars, along with Julie Christie and Geraldine Fitzgerald, in David Lean's gorgeous adaptation of the Boris Pasternak novel about the Russian revolution.

The Apprentice

THE CELEBRITY APPRENTICE

NBC, 9 p.m. ET

The 14 celebrities rounded up for this edition - a clever way to rebound from the Martha Stewart spinoff fiasco - include such eclectic playing-for-charity contestants as Sopranos veteran Vincent Pastore, abrasive Apprentice veteran Omarosa Maginault-Stallworth, and the one whose ego is way too big to check at the boardroom door, Gene Simmons of KISS.

ER

ER

NBC, 10 p.m. ET

Gloria Reuben guest stars tonight, returning as Jeanie - who's brought along her son as a patient. And while she's making an appearance in the ER, Pratt (Mekhi Phifer) is thinking of making a disappearance - because he resents being overlooked.

Bill Maher

LATE SHOW WITH DAVID LETTERMAN

CBS, 11:30 p.m. ET

On his second show of original material since the start of the writers' strike, David Letterman welcomes guest Bill Maher. Maher ended his 2007 run of HBO's Real Time with Bill Maher one week early because of the strike, and now is scheduled to return with his first 2008 show for HBO a week from tomorrow. When Letterman and Maher talk strike - and you better believe they will - the resultant conversation should be incendiary. And very, very funny.
