SERIES PREMIERE:
True Blood fans have reason to be excited by this new NBC series – but only in theory. It’s based on a series of novels by Charlaine Harris, the author of the original
True Blood stories, and it’s another small-town tale of a place where vampires, witches, shapeshifters and other supernatural creatures coexist, however uneasily. But HBO had series creator Alan Bell to make sense and sensuality of it all – and this NBC series is more like a vampire with baby teeth. It’s a series without, at first, any real bite or appeal. But in a very slow summer, it might be worth an initial visit, at least by the curious.
