Today’s contests begin with Game 3 of the Kansas City Royals vs. Houston Astros series, televised by the Major League Baseball network. The series is tied at a game apiece (the only way it could be tied at this point, but I digress). Then, at 8 p.m. ET, it’s Game 3 of the Toronto Blue Jays vs. Texas Rangers series, televised by Fox Sports 1. So far, the Rangers are undefeated at 2-0 (the only way the team could be undefeated at this point, but I digress again).
CBS, 9:00 p.m. ET
The new season continues, with a new direction (Julianna Margulies’ Alicia dealing with new judges and clients in a new legal setting), new plot lines (Chris Noth’s Peter running for Vice President), and new cast members (Jeffrey Dean Morgan and Margo Martindale, among others). All of these changes pay off instantly, and brilliantly, so enjoy.
AMC, 9:00 p.m. ET
SEASON PREMIERE: Last season ended with a cliffhanger, with the long-awaited reunion of Rick (Andrew Lincoln) and Morgan (Lennie James), who had met each other back in the series pilot. Morgan had made his entrance just in time to see Rick coldly execute another man – not a walker, but a fellow human being. And this season, we see how Morgan reacts to that discovery, as well as how the gated community reacts to hordes of suddenly advancing walkers.
Showtime, 9:00 p.m. ET
Just when you thought you were out, they pull you back in… and tonight, Carrie (Claire Danes) goes undercover again, at the center of a new investigation by, and maybe in time about, the CIA.
Showtime, 10:00 p.m. ET
By doubling its story line, this series hasn’t gotten twice as interesting – but it has given the writers and actors lots of new areas and perspectives to explore. And in the early episodes, that’s interesting – though there’s a little less of the he-said-she-said direct comparisons that made Season 1 so singularly compelling.
