MOVIE PREMIERE: I’m not saying this is a good movie, necessarily – I haven’t seen it yet, only the promo reel – but it sure is odd enough to stand out. Premiering today as a Movie on Demand offering, it’s about a gathering of Elvis impersonators, one of whom may be an alien from outer space. But the weirdness of this film doesn’t stop there: The man playing CIA agent Townsend is someone known not as an actor, but as a former White House aide. Specifically, the man who revealed, during the live televised Watergate hearings, the existence of President Richard Nixon’s secret audio taping system – Alexander Butterfield. The star of this film, though, is Martin Kove, who played the ruthless Cobra Kai sensei Kreese in The Karate Kid.

RINGO'S BIG BIRTHDAY SHOW

SPECIAL: There are two ways to watch this 80^th birthday Ringo Starr celebratory music special, which is mounted to raise funds for a quartet of Ringo-chosen charities, including Black Lives Matter Global Network and The David Lynch Foundation. The first way, literally, is to tune at 8 p.m. ET to the former Beatle’s YouTube channel, where the charity telecast includes remotely distanced performances by Ringo Starr, his former bandmate Paul McCartney, as well as Dave Grohl, Sheila E., Joe Walsh, Sheryl Crow, Ben Harper and others. The second way? Watch it on AXS. (See below.)

SPECIAL: Sixteen years after turning 64, Ringo Starr gets by with a lot of help from his friends, celebrating his 80^thbirthday in grand, pandemically appropriate style. At 8 p.m. ET, AXS presents the exclusive cable premiere of Ringo’s Big Birthday Show, the charity event unveiled three hours earlier on Ringo’s own YouTube Channel, featuring performances from Ringo Starr, Paul McCartney, Joe Walsh and others. But AXS isn’t stopping there. Also shown today as part of its Ringo birthday festivities: replays of the 2005 Soundstage TV concert by Ringo Starr and the Roundheads (at noon ET; unlike his regular All-Starr concerts, the Roundheads set lists are all Ringo); Ringo’s in-depth conversation with Dan Rather on 2018’s The Big Interview with Dan Rather (at 7 p.m. ET); and the 2012 documentary George Martin: Produced by George Martin (at 10 p.m. ET). And if you don’t know George Martin’s relationship to Ringo Starr, why have you even read this far?
