BIANCULLI’S BEST BETS

Decades, 12:00 a.m. ET

The second day of Decades’ weekend Get Smart marathon continues, with another 3,000 episodes from the classic 1965-70 spy spoof created by Mel Brooks and Buck Henry. Would you believe the final 1,234 episodes?  How about… a couple dozen?

Reelz Channel, 8:00 p.m. ET

Bernie Mac was a very, very funny man – and in this new special from Reelz, you get to hear his honest, outspoken brand of humor, both in standup comedy situations and in more intimate interview settings.

Showtime, 8:00 p.m. ET

This week, the Atlantic story broke about President Trump’s reported disdain for the military and its wounded veterans. Or just another thing his followers and supporters seem more than happy to accept and ignore? From this show’s savvy crew, expect some predictions.

HBO, 9:00 p.m. ET

Last week, the basic inspiration for the mood and theme of that particular episode seemed to be Poltergeist. Tonight, it appears to be Raiders of the Lost Ark, with an extended sequence that has the heroes trying to traverse a dangerous, ancient series of subterranean trails, underwater traps, and ancient puzzles.

Showtime, 10:00 p.m. ET

This series has turned out to be a really engrossing character study, and each of the four primary characters has revealed aspects of their personality that have proven quite surprising. The female killer apparently was a victim of sexual abuse in her past while a girl at school, and now has a chance at revenge – while the female investigator (Eve Myles) has a history of abuse as well. But in her case, it’s drug abuse – using heroin while seeking the aforementioned female killer.
