2019 MAJOR LEAGUE BASEBALL PLAYOFFS

TBS, 4:00 p.m. ET

Today TBS presents a doubleheader, both of them National League Division Series contests, and both of them Game 3s. First up, at 4 p.m. ET, is the Atlanta Braves vs. St. Louis Cardinals, followed at 7:45 p.m. ET by the Los Angeles Dodgers vs. Washington Nationals. Both NL division series are tied at 1-1.

BATWOMAN

CW, 8:00 p.m. ET

SERIES PREMIERE: This is the latest series from the so-called “Arrowverse” based on the exponentially expanding CW shows inspired by DC Comics – which, as overseen by prolific producer Greg Berlanti, now include everything from Supergirland The Flash to Arrow and Gotham. And, now this new series, which stars Ruby Rose as Kate Kane, who is Batman’s cousin, and who, in this TV version, steps up during Batman’s absence to combat crime, battle a Wonderland-inspired nemesis named Alice, and starts out wearing Batman’s hand-me-down costume. But as with Supergirl, which begins its Season 5 premiere at 9 p.m. ET, this newer CW series doesn’t have the same originality as Gotham. Kirsten Dunst’s Krystal, in her first season on this show, is becoming one of TV’s most persistent and flamboyant current characters – and that’s even before she posed for billboards last week dressed as a mermaid.

LAST WEEK TONIGHT WITH JOHN OLIVER

HBO, 11:05 p.m. ET

How in the world does this series wrap up this latest week? I have no idea, but I’m eager to tune in to find out.
