Last night’s wild-card games provided plenty of drama, including the spectacle of Atlanta Braves fans protesting a pivotal infield-fly rule call by peppering the field with cans and bottles. (Classy. At least they didn’t throw their tomahawks.) Tonight’s division series games are a best-of-five affair, but the tension will remain high. Up first in this TBS doubleheader: the Tigers, with home-field advantage over the Athletics.
Showtime, 8:00 p.m. ET
Screenwriter Will Reiser wrote this movie based on his own experiences, as a comic who tried to find humor while coping with a sudden diagnosis of cancer. Seth Rogen, Reiser’s friend, co-produced and costars in this 2011 film, which stars Joseph Gordon-Levitt as Reiser’s screen counterpart.
Starz!, 9:00 p.m. ET
Jason Segel co-wrote, as well as stars in, this 2011 movie that returns the Muppets to the large screen, with Amy Adams as a human co-star and a Muppets cast that includes everyone from Kermit and Miss Piggy to Beaker and Pepe the Prawn. To some, Pepe is a star — but with this sprawling and star-studded a Muppet menagerie, he's only a prawn in their game.
TBS, 9:30 p.m. ET
The second game of tonight’s TBS doubleheader presents the Giants, who have home-field advantage, against the Reds, in the first game of a best-of-five postseason contest.
NBC, 11:29 p.m. ET
After a week off, SNL returns with another new episode – this one with guest host Daniel Craig, and musical guest Muse. Expect a presidential debate parody of some sort, because it’s too juicy a subject to ignore.
