BIANCULLI’S BEST BETS

BREAKING BAD MARATHON

AMC, 6:00 p.m. ET

Breaking Bad turns 10 years old this month, and AMC is noting the occasion by replaying the entire series, in sequence, doling out episodes sparingly but lovingly on weekends all this month. The celebration started last year – technically, last weekend, and already has presented the show’s first two seasons – including the stellar Season 2 which began with images of a pink stuffed animal floating in a pool, and ended up with a pair of tragedies, including the final, memorable appearance of Krysten Ritter as Jane, the junkie girlfriend of Aaron Paul’s Jesse Pinkman. Today, we begin with the Season 3 premiere, “No Mas,” in which Jesse is mourning in a bad way – and Skyler, the wife of Bryan Cranston’s Walter White, is defiantly setting down rules and regulations as she announces plans to divorce him. For a full story about the Breaking Bad anniversary and impact, see Bianculli's Blog.

2001: A SPACE ODYSSEY

TCM, 8:00 p.m. ET

Now that we’ve turned the calendar to 2018, Stanley Kubrick’s 1968 sci-fi masterpiece, adapted from a work by collaborator Arthur C. Clarke, is now 50 years old. To me, that’s amazing. And another thing that’s amazing is how the special effects, and the deeply mysterious story, continue to hold up, enchant, and amaze. Great movie. And tonight, on TCM, it’s presented beautifully, without interruption – except for the movie’s original music-filled intermission.

HIDDEN FIGURES

HBO, 9:40 p.m. ET

This 2016 movie is about the early years of the space race, when scientists were still figuring things out – and so were mathematicians, some of whom get special attention in this inspirational character study. What makes them so special? For one thing, they’re women. For another, they’re African-American. In the period in which this movie is set, both of those factors are significant, and unusual. Taraji P. Henson, Octavia Spencer, Janelle Monae star.

Para penipu kelas rendah melakukan apa yang paling mereka kuasai—berbohong, menipu, dan menghilang dengan uang orang lain.
