Part 2 of 2. This 2015 biography of Walt Disney, especially in tonight’s concluding half, has some fairly significant omissions – but of what it includes, the best and most rewarding elements are the incisive discussions of how Disney’s full-length animated movies evolved. For that topic alone, this American Experience study is worth revisiting. Check local listings.

INSIDE THE NFL

Showtime, 9:00 p.m. ET

SEASON PREMIERE: This sports discussion and highlights series launched in 1977 on HBO, and even though it was handed off to Showtime long ago, has continued its long run (though with lots of on-air personnel changes) for so long, it’s one of cable TV’s most tenured programs. Tonight, in fact, is the Season 39 premiere, setting up the first official NFL games of the new season, which roll out this week.

AMERICAN HORROR STORY: CULT

FX, 10:00 p.m. ET

SEASON PREMIERE: This new season of American Horror Story begins on Election Night 2016, with both liberals and conservatives watching televised election returns, with polar opposite reactions, as Donald Trump wins enough votes in the electoral college to ascend to the presidency. Sarah Paulson and Alison Pill – stars of Aaron Sorkin’s Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip and The Newsroom, respectively – play a liberal lesbian couple haunted (in some cases literally) in the wake of the Trump victory, while AHS stalwart Evan Peters plays a cult leader killer who revels in the new political and emotional climate. Some of the allegories are a bit obvious, but by the end of the third episode, Cult has veered away in impressively unexpected directions – and there’s something to be said for the audacious approach of presenting the start of a new American Horror Story merely by replaying TV coverage of election night – and underscoring it with ominous horror music. MANHUNT: UNABOMBER

Discovery, 10:01 p.m. ET

Part 7. This is the penultimate episode of this series, and the one in which the FBI finally gets its man – or, at least, its search warrant, to surround and raid the isolated cabin of Ted Kaczynski, the suspected Unabomber.
