BIANCULLI’S BEST BETS

TCM, 8:00 p.m. ET

My advice: Dig out your old copy of Hitchcock/Truffaut (or go buy a new copy, fast, because Francois Truffaut’s film-by-film analysis of the movies of Alfred Hitchcock is a mandatory part of any solid cinephile’s library), and stay tuned. This month, TCM is celebrating the master of suspense by presenting 50 Years of Hitchcock, and presenting not only the acknowledged classics from later in his career, but also representatives of his earliest work, even the silents. So tune in tonight at 8 p.m. ET, for example, for 1927’s The Ring, a silent film in which Hitchcock took his camera into the boxing arena (pictured) decades before Martin Scorsese’s Raging Bull. Other early Hitchcock silent films from the late 1920s shown tonight include Downhill (also known as When Boys Leave Home) at 9:45 p.m. ET; The Farmer’s Wife (11:15 p.m. ET); The Lodger (1:15 a.m. ET); The Manxman (3:00 a.m. ET); and Blackmail (5 a.m. ET). Take the opportunity to record, and watch, them all.

PBS, 9:00 p.m. ET

The conclusion of this three-part documentary looks at summer in Yellowstone – and explains how the soaring temperatures of spring and summer, and the dry conditions, have led not only to the cyclical and valuable wildfires, but to giant raging fires threatening much more of the environment’s fragile ecosystem. And all those decades ago, it turns out Smokey the Bear was right: Only we can prevent forest fires. Check local listings.

NBC, 9:00 p.m. ET

The fact that original episodes of this NBC sitcom are being spooled out during the summer is one indication of how little regard NBC has for the social comedy Jerrod Carmichael is providing here. But here’s another, even sadder indication: NBC just canceled the show, so the episodes shown this summer will be the series’ last. The Carmichael Show deserved better – and almost everything on NBC’s schedule for fall, at this point, is worse.

BBC America, 10:00 p.m. ET

This new season of Broadchurch has a case centered around a victim who, for the first time on this show, has survived the ordeal. But Trish’s rapist is as yet unidentified, and tonight’s episode parades several possible, and equally reprehensible, suspects.

FX, 10:00 p.m. ET

SERIES PREMIERE: This newest FX series looks at the genesis in America of the crack epidemic, by focusing on a handful of characters who prove central to the drug’s importation and spread in Los Angeles in the early 1980s. Damson Idris, as the ambitious young kid who finds himself a major player, is at the center, and is an impressive find as a series lead. You care about him, as he navigates the streets, makes the deals, and suffers the setbacks related to the initial exponential spread of crack. But except for his Franklin Saint, a lot of Snowfall unfurls without being sufficiently involving. This series may grow on us in time – but the first episodes sent out for preview don’t exactly hit with blizzard force.

If you've been tackling all of your academic assignments on your own, know that you may always ask for help by saying "take my online exam for me". If you're undergoing pressure for a long time because of difficult work or tight deadlines, don't let it bother you. You can ask experienced professionals for help. They will complete the difficult assignments for you.
