SEASON PREMIERE: After a marvelous Season 1, The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel stunned everyone at the most recent Emmy awards – winning, among other things, best supporting actress (Alex Borstein, as Midge Maisel’s dedicated manager), best actress (Rachel Brosnanan, in the title role), best comedy writing (for co-creator Amy Sherman-Palladino), and, the biggest plum of all for Amazon, Outstanding Comedy Series. Each and every Emmy was well deserved – and Tony Shalhoub, as Midge’s father, should have won one, too. Today, Season 2 drops on Amazon, and within five minutes, has whisked Midge and her parents off to Paris, to a magical, and hilarious, detour to France. An eight-film salute to Sophia Loren tonight begins at 8 ET with 1964’s cracklingly funny Marriage, Italian Style, co-starring Marcello Mastroianni, and includes, at 10:45 p.m. ET, Loren’s 2016 live-on-stage interview at that year’s TCM Film Festival.
