SERIES PREMIERE: Kurt Sutter and company present this new spinoff series from Sons of Anarchy, and the first two episodes, available for critics to preview, set up the same general dynamic. There’s a motorcycle club with a history of conflict and violence, a raft of enemies and uneasy alliances among other clubs, and a structure that allows for lots of high-speed action scenes, slow-motion crashes, and, in the case of Mayans M.C. especially, an uncomfortably high level of violence. I watched Sons from start to finish, but I don’t necessarily expect to do the same for Mayans, based on its opening hours.
