2012 DEMOCRATIC NATIONAL CONVENTION

C-SPAN, 5:00 p.m. ET

As with the Republican National Convention, the broadcast networks are sticking to a one-hour-per-night coverage plan. (See my Bianculli’s Blog for details on the shifting treatment of televised political conventions.) The only place to find unadulterated convention coverage is C-SPAN. If you're looking for competent coverage you'll start there, and stay there.

2012 DEMOCRATIC NATIONAL CONVENTION

Various Networks, Check local listings

This is a catch-all listing for the major coverage today. Look for CNN, Fox News and MSNBC to provide all-day coverage, utilizing their regular anchors and pundits. As with last week's Republican National Convention, CBS, NBC and ABC all are devoting the 10 p.m. ET hour — but only that hour — to prime-time convention coverage.

THE DAILY SHOW WITH JON STEWART

Comedy Central, 11:00 p.m. ET

If you read Best Bets during the Republican National Convention, you're probably thinking these recommendations look pretty familiar. You're right. But let's face it: Jon Stewart and company presented some of the best RNC commentary, and they'll no doubt do the same this week — whether members of the Democratic party make asses of themselves or not.

THE COLBERT REPORT

Comedy Central, 11:30 p.m. ET

Give Stephen Colbert props: On Friday, he interviewed Clint Eastwood's chair. Tonight, look for him to ferret out the highlights of Day 1 of the Democratic National Convention. Let's just hope this week's interview subjects are a little more animated.
