Netflix, 3:00 a.m. ET
MINISERIES PREMIERE: There are three movie-length installments in this new series and initial season of Dracula. It’s co-produced by the BBC, which premiered its Dracula episodes in recent days, and Netflix, which presents them today – but opted, for some season, not to preview it for critics. That’s baffling, because this version of the Bram Stoker classic comes from Steven Moffat and Mark Gatiss, who previously reteamed for the hugely successful and well-received TV adaptation of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s Sherlock Holmes adventures. Claes Bang stars as the title character, and I expect this trilogy to be, like the team’s earlier Sherlock, wholly inventive, clever and satisfying.
Various Networks, 4:30 p.m. ET
The postseason for pro football begins. Today’s first game, at 4:30 p.m. ET on ESPN, pits the Buffalo Bills against the Houston Texans. The second game, at 8 p.m. ET on CBS, pits the Tennessee Titans against a team not used to having to play a wild-card game: The New England Patriots.
CNN, 9:00 p.m. ET
When I recommended this CNN documentary the other day, I somehow added “raw” to its title – as in The Raw Sound of My Voice. Where that came from, other than my notes, I can’t locate or explain. But I can apologize… and also can highly recommended this same-week repeat, another chance to watch what turns out to be a wonderful artistic portrait of a very special, talented woman. Her story is remarkable, and her tenacity, and belief in her own passions, truly inspirational.
