In last week’s episode of Gotham, Selina had come back from the almost dead to exact revenge on Jeremiah, stabbing him several times in the chest in what certainly looked like a series of mortal wounds. Promos for tonight’s new episode show a funeral, with Jeremiah in a casket – which is puzzling, because Jeremiah was presumed to be the character who evolved, or devolved, into the Joker. And who best can solve this puzzle? My vote would go to Ed Nygma, who’s fast turning into the Riddler. Oh, and Selina? Now that she’s displaying her darker side, she’s closer than ever to embracing, and revealing, her inner Catwoman. All this, and tonight there’s a new villain introduced as well: Bane, played by Shane West (pictured).

 
  
 
 
WILL & GRACE

NBC, 9:30 p.m. ET

SERIES RETURN: Will & Grace is back from its winter break, which is good news for the show’s fans – but bad news for fans of The Good Place, because its time slot is the one Will & Grace will be occupying. But The Good Place has been renewed for next season already, so I guess it’s all good news after all.

TCM, 9:45 p.m. ET

The title, you know. The current version, with Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper, you’ll be hearing about, or at least hearing the music from, at this year’s Oscars. The version with Barbra Streisand and Kris Kristofferson, sure, you know that, too. And it’s a good bet you’re familiar with the most famous version of this fame-is-fickle fable, starring Judy Garland and James Mason. But tonight, TCM serves up the rarely televised 1937 original A Star Is Born film, which predated all those others. Janet Gaynor plays the aspiring actress, Fredric March the fading matinee idol, and William Wyler directs. And yes, somewhat surprisingly for a film from that era, it’s in color.
