BIANCULLI’S BEST BETS

Fox, 8:00 p.m. ET

Tonight’s new episode, “Ghouli,” is not the final installment of this Season 11 of The X-Files. Nor is it the final episode co-starring Gillian Anderson, who revealed in January that this would be her last year with the series, which began on Fox back in the 1990s. (She is slated for future appearances this year, however, so don’t be too spooked by the dire-looking photo from tonight’s episode.) But it is the last of the 2018 episodes sent by Fox for critics to preview. So I know that tonight’s plot hinges on two teen girls who try to murder each other – each of them perceiving the other as a deadly monster. And I know that it’s an okay episode, though not at all close to the oddball brilliance of last week’s “The Lost Art of Forehead Sweat.” But after this week, as the remaining new episodes of The X-Files roll out, I’m like Sergeant Schultz of Hogan’s Heroes: I know nothing. Nooothing….

PBS, 9:00 p.m. ET

It took 13 years of planning – but in 2015, the designers behind Solar Impulse II reached for the skies, and their dreams, by sending aloft their test vehicle in hopes of it becoming the first solar-powered aircraft to circumnavigate the globe. Did they succeed? And whether they did or didn’t, did you ever hear of it until now? Check local listings.

FX, 10:00 p.m. ET

In tonight’s episode three, Andrew Cunanan (Darren Criss) commits two more murders as he continues his increasingly impulsive killing spree. His victims are his third and fourth kills – setting the stage for his fifth, who, very soon on this American Crime Story series, will be the man whose death we've seen already in the opening episode: Gianni Versace.

Paramount, 10:00 p.m. ET

Last week’s inaugural episode of Waco, the inaugural scripted miniseries presented by the inaugural Paramount Network – a lot of firsts here – managed to draw just over 1 million viewers in the targeted 18-49 demo. Tonight is Episode 2, with Taylor Kitsch from Friday Night Lights as Branch Davidian cult leader David Koresh, and Michael Shannon from Boardwalk Empire portraying an FBI hostage negotiator.

TBS, 10:30 p.m. ET

So, Samantha Bee, what was your response to last night’s State of the Union Address by President Trump? Don’t be shy…
