BIANCULLI’S BEST BETS

CBS, 2:00 p.m. ET

In yesterday’s games, one top seed (Florida, in the South) won, while the other (Arizona, in the West) – fell, losing to No. 2 seed Wisconsin. That means there hasn’t been a single night this entire tournament in which at least one team didn’t lose to a lower-seeded one. March Madness indeed. Today’s two games are broadcast live on CBS, with the action beginning about 2:10 p.m. ET., when Michigan State (seeded No. 4 in the East) faces Connecticut (seeded No. 7). To get this far, Michigan State has beaten top-seeded Virginia, while Connecticut has beaten the East’s No. 2 and No. 3 seeds, Villanova and Iowa State. Then, at 5 p.m. ET, comes the Midwest regional final between No. 2 seed Michigan and No. 8 seed Kentucky. Because of upsets, Michigan has yet to face any team in this tournament seeded higher than No. 7, while Kentucky – the lowest-seeded team still standing – already has beaten No. 1 seed Wichita State and No. 4 seed Louisville to advance to this point. If there’s going to be an upset today, it could come in either game, but another win by Kentucky would be the more amazing story.

CBS, 9:00 p.m. ET

After last week’s stunning episode, I hardly have to tell you to watch tonight’s installment of The Good Wife. What I do have to tell you is to warn you that, because of CBS coverage of NCAA basketball earlier in the day, tonight’s show might start late on the East Coast. So if you’re setting a recorder, allow plenty of extra time. The sports overrruns affecting The Good Wife many Sundays is the most maddening thing about CBS’s scheduling of its best drama – but otherwise, I have no complaints. For a full story about The Good Wife and its revelatory recent episode, see Jonathan Storm’s Eye of the Storm. And to hear my NPR report on the same topic, see the Fresh Air with Terry Gross website.

Fox, 9:00 p.m. ET

In tonight’s installment, astrophysicist Neil deGrasse Tyson takes his pretend spaceship not just through space, but also through time – to the beginning of the 1800s. And with good reason…

AMC, 9:00 p.m. ET

SEASON FINALE: Last week, The Walking Dead provided something that, for it, was quite unusual: a shot of happiness, as some of the characters managed to reunite. Tonight, for the season finale, expect more reunions – but if you’re expecting a happy ending to the entire season, I’m guessing you’d better think again.

Showtime, 9:00 p.m. ET

I thought Fiona Gallagher (played so powerfully by Emmy Rossum) had hit rock bottom several weeks ago on this show – but I was wrong. Last week, in a very emotional episode, she spun out of control even more, before being rescued by her family. But that rescue didn’t take completely, and tonight, she’s facing jail time.
