BIANCULLI’S BEST BETS

Comedy Central website, 12:00 a.m. ET

I sent out a Tweet about this before it started last Friday – every episode of Jon Stewart’s Daily Show since its 1999 premiere, streamed sequentially on the Daily Show website. What I didn’t count on is how addictive they would be from the start – or that Stephen  Colbert would appear in the very first show, and Steve Carell in the opening week. The show, at the start, had a lot of maturing to do: the only media being examined from the start were religious and children’s TV shows. But Stewart, from the very start, was self-assured, and very amusing. Dive in at the Daily Show website any time, over the next month and more, and it’ll be a while before you resurface.

ESPN, 7:00 a.m. ET

The 2015 Wimbledon tournament begins today, and while first-round play doesn’t always offer surprises and upsets, there have been enough, in recent years, to tune in early. And by early, I mean early, because the time difference from England means that live coverage on ESPN begins at 7 a.m. ET.

HBO, 9:00 p.m. ET

Here’s a new documentary profile of Larry Kramer, the writer and gay activist – and though this profile was scheduled long before last week’s groundbreaking Supreme Court decision on gay marriage rights, it certainly provides the program with a timely and happy context.

PBS, 10:00 p.m. ET

This fall, ABC is scheduled to present a new series, Blood & Oil, starring Don Johnson and Chace Crawford, about people pursuing dreams of instant fortune in the ongoing North Dakota oil boom. This P.O.V. documentary, The Overnighters, takes on the same subject – but for real. Check local listings.

Comedy Central, 11:00 p.m. ET

Treasure Jon Stewart while you still can. Tonight, his guest is Taylor Schilling from Netflix’s Orange Is the New Black – and his take on politics and the media is Stewart’s own.

Truly, this article is really one of the very best in the history of articles. I am a antique ’Article’ collector and I sometimes read some new articles if I find them interesting. And I found this one pretty fascinating and it should go into my collection. Very good work!
