BIANCULLI’S BEST BETS

AMC, 9:34 a.m. ET

All month, quite happily, I’ve been sucked into this 10th-anniversary weekend rebroadcast of Breaking Bad. And today, that celebration, and that series, comes to an end – with the last, marvelous episodes of TV’s best dramatic series. The mini-marathon begins at 9:34 a.m. ET wit Episode 12 of Season 5, and ends with the finale, called “Felina,” at 2:12 p.m. ET, which is when series creator Vince Gilligan ends it all by giving us the Badfinger.

CBS, 7:30 p.m. ET

SPECIAL: James Corden is returning as host of the Grammys this year, and there’s a lot to watch. Producer Ken Ehrlich always crams this show with exciting pairings of musicians, and among tonight’s scheduled duets are the pairing of Elton John and Miley Cyrus, and another with Bruno Mars and Cardi B. And there are several emotional moments to anticipate as well. The Brothers Osborne, Maren Morris and Eric Church, all of whom performed at the Las Vegas festival besieged by a deadly sniper, will take the Grammy stage together. And while the #TimesUp movement opposing sexual harassment will be reflected in speeches and in the wearing of white roses throughout the night, the performance by Kesha will address it directly: She’s scheduled to perform “Praying,” her song in which she sings about her accusations against her former music producer Dr Luke, whom she claims assaulted her physically, verbally and sexually.

Starz!, 8:00 p.m. ET

This second episode of Counterpart is shown tonight, deepening the mystery of what’s going on between these two worlds, and these two lookalikes. The performance by J.K. Simmons gets even better, and several of the supporting players get to do double duty as well… but whatever this series is adding up to, it hasn’t gotten there yet. But it’s intriguing enough, for now, to stay tuned.

Showtime, 9:00 p.m. ET

SEASON FINALE: This season’s Shameless has managed to juggle several audacious story lines without bursting the bubble of any of them. Will Fiona (Emmy Rossum) get away with imprisoning her apartment crashers by stealing them in with plywood over the entrances? Will Ian continue to rise as a modern Messiah for the misunderstood? Will Carl and Kassidi (pictured) continue their explosive, clearly ill-fated Bonnie-and-Clyde-type “marriage”? And will Svetlana succeed in using the Internet to locate a wealthy sugar daddy? My guess is that all three of these stories will end Iin failure… but also, that they’ll end very, very humorously.

HBO, 10:30 p.m. ET

Every week on this show, comic Pete Holmes (playing, in this semi-autobiographical comedy series, an exaggerated version of himself) relies on the kindness of strangers. Well, not strangers, really, so much as fellow, more successful standup comics, upon whom he relies to give him advice, moral support, and a couch on which to crash for a while. Tonight’s victim? Bill Burr.
