BIANCULLI’S BEST BETS

TBS, 6:00 p.m. ET

Last night, in Saturday’s half of the Elite Eight games, No. 1 seed Oregon fell to No. 2 seed Oklahoma. Then, in the second game, No. 1 seed Kansas lost to No. 2 seed Villanova, in a fiercely fought contest. Tonight, the remaining two No. 1 seeds try to avoid similar upsets and make it to the Final Four, in games televised by TBS. At 6 p.m. ET, it’s No. 1 Virginia vs. No. 10 Syracuse, followed at 8:45 p.m. ET by No. 1 North Carolina vs. No. 6 Notre Dame.

NBC, 7:00 p.m. ET

If the family’s around for the holiday weekend, there’s no better family TV show around which to gather tonight than this new hit series from NBC, in which Steve Harvey showcases, and chats with, tiny kids with big talents. This show is executive produced by Ellen DeGeneres, which explains its warm and friendly tone. And also explains why you should give it a try, especially on this particular weekend. A repeat episode is televised at 7 p.m. ET, followed by a new episode at 8 ET.

CBS, 9:00 p.m. ET

Once again, The Good Wife presents a case involving cutting-edge technology and its legal impact. Tonight’s story involves a therapist who sues someone who has been sending a camera-equipped drone to hover around his at-home office. Try that at my place right now, and all you’ll get are shots of an amazingly cluttered at-home office. And kitchen. And living room. And…

AMC, 9:00 p.m. ET

This is the penultimate episode of Season 6 – and if previous seasons are any indication, this is an episode where we may well lose a beloved regular character. Maybe it’s wrong to expect the unexpected, but so far on The Walking Dead, that’s been part of the pattern. And in this episode, Carol has left the safety of Alexandria, and Daryl is determined to find her. Whatever happens, this second-half burst of episodes has been especially intense, and impressive.

HBO, 9:00 p.m. ET

Tonight’s episode involves a road trip to Vegas by Richie and Zak (Bobby Cannavale, Ray Romano) – on a quest to sign Elvis Presley to the Alibi label. If you haven’t been watching Vinyl, don’t be confused. It’s a period drama about the record industry in the 1970s – so at this point in the story, Elvis has yet to leave the proverbial building. By the way, the episode’s clever title? “The King and I.”
