BIANCULLI’S BEST BETS

CBS, 8:00 p.m. ET

At the end of its recently completed freshman season, Kevin Can Wait made room for Leah Remini, who played series star Kevin James’ TV wife on his previous King of Queens sitcom, as a special guest star. She played a police officer who once partnered with Kevin on a case, and needed his help to close the case at last. That two-part season finale proved so popular, Remini and her character are coming back next season, for good – while Erinn Hayes, who co-starred as Kevin’s wife Donna last year on Kevin Can Wait (pictured), is being written out of the show. So you might want to watch some of this summer’s Season 1 reruns, in which Hayes is featured as Kevin’s wife. It’s like watching the original Darrin on Bewitched, but with the insider knowledge that he’s about to be replaced by another TV partner.

TCM, 8:00 p.m. ET

This is the final Monday of TCM’s month-long salute to Audrey Hepburn, and the night begins with this frothy but fun 1964 comedy about Hollywood writer’s block. William Holden plays a screenwriter who’s been procrastinating for months about an impending deadline, and has to produce a script in one final frenetic weekend in Paris. So he hires a temp secretary, played by Audrey Hepburn, who jump-starts his creativity by agreeing to embody his imaginings and fantasies as he conjures them. If that’s a real job, and an actual way to conquer writer’s block, at least one of us here at TVWW is now in the process of accepting applications. Send resumes, and costumed photos, to...

PBS, 9:00 p.m. ET

SEASON PREMIERE: The valuable documentary series P.O.V. begins Season 30 tonight – quite an impressive achievement – and starts off with a season opener including Dalya’s Other Country, a study of a Syrian refugee who, with her mother, left Syria and the wartime travails there to begin a new life in the United States, specifically Los Angeles. High school is tough enough for most kids under regular circumstances, so imagine what Dalya is facing. Check local listings.

TCM, 10:00 p.m. ET

In this 1957 movie musical, Audrey Hepburn plays a bookworm who is photographed at a bookstore – and quickly becomes an international fashion icon. Fred Astaire co-stars – and with Hepburn as the face in question, this central plot twist becomes a lot less twisted... and is a lot more believable.
