BIANCULLI’S BEST BETS

AMC, 8:00 p.m. ET

Based on E.M. Nathanson's best-selling 1965 novel, The Dirty Dozen, this 1967 film's cast includes several actual World War II vets: Charles Bronson, Telly Savalas, Ernest Borgnine, Robert Webber, Robert Ryan and Clint Walker. It's also the film that famously ended the football career of Cleveland Browns running back, Jim Brown. When Browns' owner Art Modell forced 29-year-old Brown — who had appeared in the western Rio Conchos and an episode of I Spy before being cast in Dirty Dozen — to choose between football and acting, the NFL's then-all-time leading rusher retired from the sport.

Spike, 8:00 p.m. ET

This is the film that started the entire Star Wars phenomenon, and tonight Spike presents the 20th-anniversary re-edit of George Lucas' blockbuster space saga. But that's not all. If you want to plan your own Star Wars weekend, tune into Spike tomorrow at 8 p.m. ET for Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back, and Sunday - same time - for Episode VI: Return of the Jedi. May the force be with you.

NBCSN, 8:00 p.m. ET

The New York Rangers take on the New Jersey Devils in Game 6 of the Eastern Conference finals. With a one-game lead, the Devils — who scored three goals in the first 10 minutes of Game 5 — could clinch the title and move on to take on the Los Angeles Kings in the Stanley Cup finals. But the top-seeded Rangers could just as easily take the game back to Madison Square Garden on Sunday for Game 7.

PBS, 9:00 p.m. ET

When something is so detailed and so complicated that dozens of things need to be in perfect sync for it to work properly, it's called a Goat Rodeo. That's the name master cellist Yo-Yo Ma chose to give his muscially-complex collaboration with bluegrass fiddler Stuart Duncan, bassist Edgar Meyer and mandolin master Chris Thile. The one-hour concert, filmed at the House of Blues in Boston, also includes an appearance by vocalist Aoife O'Donovan.

A&E, 10:00 p.m. ET

Twenty-five years after the release of his critically-acclaimed Graceland, Paul Simon goes back to South Africa and reunites with the musicians with whom he collaborated in a documentary by filmmaker Joe Berlinger. The trip has more than passing significance: When Simon traveled to Africa in 1985 to record Graceland with local artists, he was accused of breaking the UN cultural boycott of South Africa. The film, which premiered at this year's Sundance Film Festival, looks at the controversy and its aftermath.
