Fox’s live TV production of Grease is less than a week away – so Freeform is repeating this 1978 movie musical at a very well-chosen time. Watch one more time, to compare the performances (and costumes) in this film of Olivia Newton-John, John Travolta and Stockard Channing – as Sandy, Danny and Rizzo, respectively – with the ones coming this Sunday from Julianne Hough, Aaron Tveit and Vanessa Hudgens.

TIME SLOT PREMIERE: Now that the exposition-heavy, reset-obsessed series premiere episode is out of the way, The X-Files can get back to business, and to basics. That begins with tonight’s episode, which is much more satisfying than last night’s return episode. But what’s really satisfying, on balance, is having David Duchovny’s Mulder and Gillian Anderson’s Scully back again.

In tonight’s new episode, Supergirl goes up against a White Martian. I used to read Marvel Comics, not DC, so I’m not familiar with this particular villain. To me, a White Martian sounds like an exotic drink order.

David Bianculli has been a TV critic since 1975, including a 14-year stint at the New York Daily News, and sees no reason to stop now. Currently, he's TV critic for NPR's Fresh Air with Terry Gross, and is an occasional substitute host for that show. He's also an author and teaches TV and film history at New Jersey's Rowan University. His 2009 Dangerously Funny: The Uncensored Story of 'The Smothers Brothers Comedy Hour', has been purchased for film rights.
