Winter is coming – and, for some characters in tonight’s episode, so is “The Gift” – which is Throne-ish for death, because life is so awful, death is received with gratitude.

Dr. Prince (Tony Shalhoub) conducts an intervention of sorts, trying to broker peace between Jackie (Edie Falco) and Gloria (Anna Deavere Smith). And that’s not the only way he has a lasting impact on what happens to the hospital staff as we near the end of this final season.

Tonight’s episode takes our witch-hunting heroes into uncharted realms – at least one of which is decked out with ping pong tables…

TCM, 10:00 p.m. ET

For Memorial Day weekend, TCM is devoting each night in prime time to a different wartime conflict. Tonight it’s the Korean War, and the highlight is a showing of Robert Altman’s 1970 comedy MASH (the subsequent TV series M*A*S*H adopted the interstitial asterisks). Donald Sutherland and Elliott Gould star as, respectively, Hawkeye Pierce and Trapper John, with Sally Kellerman as “Hot Lips.” Very funny, very dark, very anti-war – and very, very influential.

HBO, 10:30 p.m. ET

In tonight’s episode, Hugh Laurie repeats his recurring role as Tom James, in a performance that effectively takes him from House to the White House.
