Olivia de Havilland, who died last month at age 104, is the subject of today’s “Summer Under the Stars” salute on TCM. She was born in 1916, and appeared in her first film,
Alibi Ike, in 1935. That same year, she also played Hermia in a film version of
A Midsummer Night’s Dream, and starred opposite Errol Flynn in
Captain Blood. By 1938, she was starring opposite Flynn again, playing Maid Marian in 1938’s
The Adventures of Robin Hood. And in 1939, most famously, she played cousin Melanie in
Gone with the Wind (pictured)
, which TCM is televising tonight at 8 p.m. ET.
