Amazon Prime Video, 12:00 a.m. ET
This weekend only, beginning at midnight Friday, Amazon is providing free access to a sneak preview of the first two episodes of its newest drama series, which will premiere officially next month:
The Man in the High Castle, based on the novel by Philip K. Dick. Episode 1 was shown back during Amazon’s public pilot-testing process, but this is the first chance, online, to see Episode 2 of this exciting, thought-provoking new series from Frank Spotnitz, which posits an alternate reality: What if the Allies had lost WWII? Access it, while you can, by visiting
the Amazon Man from the High Castle page.
Fox Sports 1, 8:00 p.m. ET
Game 6. The Toronto Blue Jays staved off elimination Wednesday with a 7-1 victory over the Kansas City Royals, but the Royals still have a 3-2 advantage in this series – and, tonight, have home-field advantage again, now that the ALCS has shifted back to Kansas City from Toronto. If the Blue Jays win tonight, a winner-take-all Game 7 will be played tomorrow night, also in Kansas City. If not, the Royals are on to the World Series, against the National League champions, the New York Mets.
TCM, 8:00 p.m. ET
It’s a week early, but TCM tonight presents two perfect movies in prime time to get you in the Halloween mood. First up: 1941’s Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, starring Spencer Tracy as the two-faced character in a stylish horror movie also starring Ingrid Bergman and Lana Turner.
PBS, 9:00 p.m. ET
Based on the 2000 movie, with a musical score by Elton John, this new TV production captures a live performance of Billy Elliot the Musical, as staged in London’s West End at the Victoria Palace Theatre. Eleven-year-old dance champion Elliott Hanna stars in the title role, and dances with enough ferocity to rouse the normally reserved British audience into a very enthusiastic ovation. If you liked the movie, chance are you’ll like this broadly played stage version. If not, you proably won’t. Check local listings.
Cinemax, 10:00 p.m. ET
In tonight’s episode, Dr. Thackery (Clive Owen) thinks he’s figured out a way to return to the Knick – but, fittingly, doing so is a rather tricky operation.
TCM, 10:30 p.m. ET
This is the second of two classic horror films shown tonight – a week early for Halloween, but welcome nonetheless. Made in 1939, this movie provided Charles Laughton with one of his most indelible and poignant roles, playing a deformed Parisian man who adores a beautiful gypsy, played by Maureen O’Hara.
MSNBC, 9:00 p.m. ET
Straight from her most recent testimony before the Benghazi committee, Democratic presidential frontrunner Hillary Clinton faces another inquisitor: Rachel Maddow, who’s interviewing her for the first time. And it’s the first TV interview the former First Lady has given since Vice President Joe Biden decided not to run. Should be really interesting…
