BIANCULLI’S BEST BETS

Fox, 2:00 p.m. ET

For today’s Day 3 of TV coverage of this year’s U.S. Open, action moves entirely to the broadcast network, where Fox begins its live telecast at 2 p.m. ET and doesn’t conclude until 10 p.m. ET. Already, several story lines have developed at the challengingly uneven surfaces at Washington’s Chambers Bay. Tiger Woods had such a bad time here that he didn’t make the cut. Young phenom Jordan Spieth managed, by the end of Day 2, to  claim a share of the early lead. Phil Mickelson is further back in the pack, but still has a chance to play into strong contention and complete his Grand Slam of major golf tournaments. And then there’s Jason day (pictured), the Australian golfer who, while playing the final hole of his round yesterday, collapsed with a recurring incident of “benign positional vertigo.” In order to avoid disqualification, he had to finish the round anyway, and – somehow, with shaky hands and unsteady legs – hit his next shot out of a bunker onto the green, and putted out with a bogey, making him eligible to continue play today if he’s healthy enough. Which, he said last night, he plans to be. Imagine the support from the gallery he’d get today if he shows up…

HBO, 8:00 p.m. ET

David Fincher directed this excellent 2014 adaptation of the Gillian Flynn novel, which Flynn herself adapted for the screen. Ben Affleck plays a man whose wife, played by Rosamund Pike, suddenly disappears, quickly leading to him as the prime suspect. But there’s a lot more here than what the story appears to be at first glance. Or even at second glance… Neil Patrick Harris co-stars.

Lifetime, 8:00 p.m. ET

I haven’t seen this secret-project Lifetime movie, but I’ll be watching tonight. It stars Will Ferrell and Kristin Wiig in what sounds like a typical Lifetime movie: They play a rich married couple who invite a young birth mother into their home to present them with a child. But according to the buzz, A Deadly Adoption is supposed to be played for straight, or close to it – not like the duo’s playful IFC miniseries, The Spoils of Babylon, which is spawning an imminent sequel. How serious, how goofy, or how meta is this movie? Tonight, there’s only one way to find out…

BBC America, 9:00 p.m. ET

SEASON FINALE: Now that Sarah (and others) have identified “The Original,” what to do with her? And, more important, her blood? Don’t expect tonight’s season finale to end well for everyone – on Orphan Black, they seldom do.

BBC America, 11:15 p.m. ET

Graham Norton is such an unabashed fan of Seth MacFarlane’s, that whenever the Family Guy creator visits, Graham makes him do a series of vocal “requests.” Last time he had MacFarlane recreate something he did to Liam Neeson: recite Neeson’s famous “I will find you” speech from Taken – but in the voice of Kermit the Frog. This time, the host asks MacFarlane to sing a pair of Cyndi Lauper songs, but in the voices of his Family Guy characters – and with Lauper seated right next to him on the couch.
