BIANCULLI’S BEST BETS

Fox Sports 1, 3:00 p.m. ET

It’s Game 4 in the ALCS – the second game played in Toronto, with the Blue Jays trying to fight back from a deficit against the Kansas City Royals, using home-field advantage as… an advantage. So far, the Blue Jays are fighting hard (pictured) – just not necessarily when it counts.

TBS, 7:00 p.m. ET

It’s Game 3 in the NLCS – the first game played in Chicago, with the Cubs trying to fight back from a 2-0 deficit in this series against the New York Mets.

Fox, 8:30 p.m. ET

This new Fox comedy, in particular, has delivered on its early promise, and evolved quickly into a very clever and enjoyable new comedy. Rob Lowe seems to get more fun out of his recycled “Grinder” dialogue and legal strategies every week – and Fred Savage, as his persistently frustrated and competitive sibling, is fast building his role into half of one of the best character-driven comedy teams around. If you haven’t sampled The Grinder yet, please do. It’s super-aware of TV conventions and tropes, and uses them, more and more, as comedy weapons.

CW, 9:00 p.m. ET

Under controlled conditions, Liv (Rose McIver) has eaten a lot of brains on this show to keep her zombie instincts at bay – and each time she does so, she temporarily absorbs a bit of the personality and knowledge of the brain-food donor. Tonight, she samples one of the most delicious plot devices yet: the brains of a Real Housewives-style trophy wife. They may be thin and airy, but they do give Liv a highly developed fashion sense – and attitude. What fun: Slowly but surely, iZombie is giving McIver TV’s most versatile acting showcase since Tatiana Maslany on BBC America’s Orphan Black.

CBS, 11:35 p.m. ET

Tonight’s program is a repeat, from week two of Colbert’s tenure on Late Show, that’s well worth revisiting. Carol Burnett and Kevin Spacey are the guests – and what Carol doesn’t know is that her fellow guest is going to crash her segment to surprise her with a celebrity impersonation – and a poem in her honor. For my interview with Carol Burnett and Kevin Spacey about how this came about, and their response to it afterward, see Bianculli’s Blog.

Checking out classic television recommendations and archival TV reviews is always a great way to discover hidden gems and nostalgic shows to watch. Having dedicated guides makes finding quality entertainment so much easier. While discussing classic media and online entertainment options with friends recently, someone also recommended checking out platforms like [thorfortune](https://thorfortunes.it/) for a smooth and engaging user experience. Thanks for sharing this helpful update!

Great breakdown! Having well-written television like this makes evening downtime so much more engaging. When I'm taking a break between episodes or just relaxing after a long day of screen time, I usually unwind for a bit with a few casual rounds on [chicken road](https://chickenroad.gr.com/) before starting the next season. Really appreciate the thoughtful recommendations on this site!
