Tonight’s new
Nature hour, called “Octopus: Making Contact,” presents a lot of interesting information about what scientists know about octopi, but also has some fascinating segments about what we don’t know. For example: do they dream? And if they do, what of? There’s a segment in which photographers capture footage of a sleeping octopus, and all the chameleonic changes it goes through while… dreaming? It begs for a new variation on a poem by Ogden Nash: “Tell me, O Octopus, I screams – Is those things lights, or is they dreams?”

Last night, the National League presented its Wild-Card Game, and it was a doozy, with the Milwaukee Brewers taking the lead, then falling victim to a dramatic comeback rally and victory by the Washington Nationals. Tonight, two American League teams face the same do-or-die scenario: The Oakland Athletics host the Tampa Bay Rays, and only one of them will advance to the next round.

Tonight’s new episode is called “Band in China,” and has Randy planning to take his group on the road in the east – the Far East.

Last week’s series premiere of this pop-culture potpourri opened with Quarter Life Poetry, a live-action extended music video of sorts, starring and written by Samantha Jayne. It was my favorite piece of Cake from the opening installment – and I didn’t find out until afterward, and after my positive notice on TV Worth Watching, that the young star was the daughter of a TVWW behind-the-scenes co-conspirator. So now it gives me even more pleasure, and pride, to deliver this Best Bet recommendation: Let them eat Cake!
