Three years before sailing on Titanic, Kate Winslet starred as one of the twisted teens in this fact-based drama about murderous schoolgirls in New Zealand. The fact that this story is based on truth makes it more, rather than less, creepy — as does Winslet’s intense-beyond-her-years performance. And another reason to watch: It's directed by Peter Jackson, before he went on to direct his Lord of the Rings cycle.

As new neighbors movie in, Nick and Jess reevaluate their “friends without benefits” relationship status. Nick insists the thought of relating otherwise is repugnant to him – which Jess, understandably, takes a bit personally.

In tonight’s episode, Dennis Quaid gets to walk into a bar, listen for a few seconds to the rude comments of a boisterous patron, then throw him through the window and out onto the street. Yes, I know this fact-based story is set in 1950s Las Vegas – but from Quaid’s demeanor to his wardrobe, this new CBS series really is a wild Western in disguise.

After what happened to Opie on last week’s show, some fans have revolted against this series, while others, myself included, have embraced it all the more for its ruthless unpredictability.
