BIANCULLI’S BEST BETS

CBS, 8:00 p.m. ET

SEASON FINALE: For tonight’s Season 1 finale, it’s Supergirl vs. a super-weapon: a glowing sword made of green kryptonite. And it’s a weapon wielded by her adoptive sister, who’s still under a villain’s mind control and turned into a deadly weapon of her own. But it’s also an episode in which the caped crusadress takes to television to try to reach the populace. We knew Supergirl could take to the air – but this is a new approach entirely.

CW, 8:00 p.m. ET

SEASON FINALE: For tonight’s Season 1 finale, it’s another round of musical misunderstandings – as explored, explained and sung by this show’s very talented, amazingly hard-working and likable cast. It’s almost like Ugly Betty: The Musical.

Fox, 8:00 p.m. ET

She’s crazy, she’s deadly, she’s unpredictable – and she’s back. Yes, it’s Barbara Kean (played by Erin Richards), out of the asylum and back looking for Jim Gordon, the future police commissioner of Gotham City. And even though she’s tried to commit murder in his presence, and even in his direction, he’s still fated to marry her – because she’s destined to be Barbara Gordon, the mother of the similarly named baby who grows up to be Batgirl.

NBC, 8:00 p.m. ET

Tonight it’s the Top 12, performing for their survival. And this year, it’s the strongest field the show has ever presented, so expect some memorable, and emotional, performances.

Syfy, 9:00 p.m. ET

SEASON PREMIERE: There’s a lot of tension in the Season 2 launch of this Syfy reboot of the 1995 Twelve Monkeys movie – not only a lot of unsettling gunplay, but even a more unsettling time-travel trip or two.

AMC, 10:00 p.m. ET

SEASON FINALE: I’ve been finishing my next book for the past few months, and one of the things I’ve had to sacrifice, along with sleep and a life, is being able to keep up-to-date on this, my favorite current TV series. So tonight’s Season 2 finale is something that has me six episodes behind – six episodes I’m just about to enjoy, because now I can. By the way, see Bianculli’s Blog for a way you can help me name the book – and win a signed first edition hardback for your efforts.
