Nature has scored some impressive wins this season, at least creatively, by going for the less cuddly creatures. Raccoons, for one – and tonight, doing a program on eels definitely counts as another. ION, 9:00 p.m. ET

This 2008 movie version of Peter Morgan’s fascinating play was adapted by Morgan himself, and stars the two actors who brought the characters of David Frost and Richard Nixon to life on stage: Michael Sheen and Frank Langella. It’s a captivating movie – one which already has worked its way, in my viewing patterns, to “spider-web” status.

BOSTON'S FINEST

TNT, 9:00 p.m. ET

SEASON FINALE: This season finale won’t have anything to do with the bombing at the Boston Marathon. But watch it, with respect, and think: These men and women are representative of some of the first responders who reacted to that terrorist tragedy.

THE AMERICANS

FX, 10:00 p.m. ET

Elizabeth (Keri Russell) decides to take on a very dangerous mission – one that requires her to get assistance from her husband, with whom she’s not exactly getting along these days.

SOUTHLAND

TNT, 10:00 p.m. ET

SEASON FINALE: This series has built to a very emotional and unpredictable close this season, with the past few episodes all presenting some very real, very raw, totally unexpected moments. So for tonight’s season finale, expect the unexpected – and some very strong acting.
