There have been so many good shows vying for attention on Sunday nights, this ABC series has sort of slid beneath the Best Bets radar – but it’s still on my weekly list of shows to record and watch. Season 2 has enriched, rather than diluted, the overall high concept of this fairy-tale-gone-sour series – and this year, with the evil Regina continuing to play with the hearts and dreams of those around her, things have gotten even nastier, thanks to a series of increasingly enlightening flashbacks.
PBS, 8:00 p.m. ET
PBS continues to rerun episodes of Season 1 of this show, setting the stage for the almost imminent arrival of Season 2. And so long as PBS repeats them, I’ll tune in and re-watch them. If you were caught up in Downton Abbey, this show should grab you like a riptide. Check local listings.
CBS, 9:00 p.m. ET
If there were an Emmy category for Best Overall Use of Guest Stars, this series would be among the prime contenders. Each week, the list and quality of guest performers would be great enough to staff at least one other entirely different series. But on Good Wife, they keep on coming – and returning. Tonight, to name just one example, John Shea (see here in his previous appearance on the show) returns as Cary’s harsh, distant father.
AMC, 9:00 p.m. ET
The sit-down stand-off last week, between Rick (Andrew Lincoln, pictured) and the Governor (David Morrissey) was the most tense meeting of its type since Mags Bennett sat down across the table from Raylan on Justified. On Walking Dead, though, both of the participants walked away to live, and fight, another day. And this new episode, quite clearly, marks the beginning of those other days.
HBO, 9:00 p.m. ET
SEASON FINALE: Both emotions and deadlines come to a boil this week, as Hannah (Lena Dunham) frantically tries to comply with the due date of her novel – while ex-boyfriend Adam (Adam Driver) has an emotional catharsis that is long overdue. This last script of the season was co-written by Dunham and series co-executive producer Judd Apatow.
