BIANCULLI’S BEST BETS

THE BIG BANG THEORY

CBS, 8:00 p.m. ET

Amy (Mayim Bialik) gets a job at the university, getting her even closer to Sheldon (Jim Parsons). And that may be closer than he wants her to get – especially when Penny (Kaley Cuoco) begins to tease them about their sudden closeness.

2013 AMERICAN LEAGUE CHAMPIONSHIP SERIES

Fox, 8:00 p.m. ET

For yesterday’s Game 4 in this Detroit Tigers vs. Boston Red Sox series, Tigers manager Jim Leyland decided to shuffle the deck, and the on-deck circle, and revise the order of almost the entire starting lineup. Presto: the Tigers’ bats come alive, and the team beats the Red Sox, 7-3. So tonight, for Game 5, now that the ALCS is tied 2-2, I’d expect the same lineup as last night. At least from the Tigers dugout.

PARKS AND RECREATION

NBC, 8:00 p.m. ET

Tonight’s guest star is Tatiana Maslany, who played at least seven roles in the first season of BBC America’s Orphan Black. Here, she plays only one: a Pawnee resident who catches the eye of Tom (Aziz Ansari). And she’ll be here next week, too – so, in this case, you’re not seeing double. Or clones.

TWO AND A HALF MEN

CBS, 9:30 p.m. ET

After guest starring in one episode, a few weeks ago, as Charlie Harper’s formerly unknown grown daughter, Jenny, former Joan of Arcadia star Amber Tamblyn has been promoted to series regular. That starts tonight, as Jenny moves into the beach house – bringing her wild ways with her.

PARENTHOOD

NBC, 10:00 p.m. ET

Amber (Mae Whitman) is planning her wedding, and mom Sarah (Lauren Graham) is eager to help – even though, as it turns out, she’s not that eager about the union itself, and sees some of her old past mistakes reflected in her daughter’s decisions.
