BIANCULLI’S BEST BETS

ABC, 7:00 p.m. ET

This 1956 Cecil B. DeMille epic is an Easter weekend tradition on ABC – and here it comes again, with Charlton Heston as Moses, Yul Brynner as Rameses, and Yvonne De Carlo as Sephora. (So that’s where the name of that beauty products store comes from…)

TCM, 8:00 p.m. ET

James Stewart stars in this whimsical 1950 comedy, playing a genial, often tipsy man who insists he is accompanied everywhere by his invisible friend, a six-foot-tall rabbit named Harvey. Also on tap tonight on TCM: 1959’s The Rabbit Trap at 10 p.m. ET, 1972’s giant-rabbits horror movie Night of the Lepus at 11:30 p.m. ET, and a pair of vintage Tex Avery/Chuck Jones rabbit cartoons at 1:15 a.m. ET. So, clearly, it’s Easter bunnies night on TCM…

AMC, 9:00 p.m. ET

In episode three of this new AMC series, the dual timelines established in the pilot continue to be explored: Eli as a teenager, captured by Comanches in 1949, and the much more mature Eli in 1915, patriarch of a ranch threatened by changing times more than charging Indians. Piece Brosnan stars as the elder Eli.

BBC America, 9:00 p.m. ET

SEASON PREMIERE: This super-long-running BBC series returns for yet another year, but not quite yet another Doctor. Peter Capaldi returns as this latest incarnation of the time-traveling Time Lord, although Capaldi has let it be known this is his last year, before the Doctor regenerates into another new form. It’s the last season, too, for Steven Moffat, who has done such a brilliant job reinventing this series the past seven years. Meanwhile, Doctor Who has a new companion this year, an all-out Earthling (and a gay one, at that) played by Pearl Mackie.

BBC America, 10:10 p.m. ET

SERIES PREMIERE: There have been other spinoffs of Doctor Who over the years, and here comes one more. As a nod to this show’s young viewers and very loyal fans, it’s centered on a classroom, and on the teacher and students who keep the spirit of the Doctor alive when he’s not around. And keep alive their fellow earthlings, too.

BBC America, 11:20 p.m. ET

Tonight’s installment features Doctor Who himself, Peter Capaldi, who shows up as a special guest, along with Warren Beatty, Jennifer Hudson, and others.

NBC, 11:29 p.m. ET

Saturday Night Live has been around since 1975, but has never before attempted what it’s trying to do tonight. It’s performing the show twice – once for the East Coast, and again, hours later, for the West Coast. Executive producer Lorne Michaels pulled this off successfully before, but that was with Tina Fey and Alec Baldwin, when doing a special live episode of NBC’s prime-time sitcom 30 Rock. For tonight’s “double feature” of SNL, Michaels reaches out to another SNL old hand as guest host: Jimmy Fallon. The musical guest, also performing his set twice, is Harry Styles.

Holy Lolapalooza! It's been a semi-secret in my life that I like to GLAM UP and belt out a few tunes at my local watering hole. I didn't ever think that one of my FANS would stumble in to one of my performances!!! ROTFLMBFAO!!!!

Which song did you like best: Girls Just Want to Have Fun, or Highway to Hell?

Next time, please introduce yourself!! I promise, I don't bite!!!! (unless we both mutually agree that we would like that!!!!!)

Fondly yours in TV,
